Raised at Linlithgow in September 1914. Served on coastal defence duties until June 1918 when it moved to Dundalk in Ireland. In July it moved to Aldershot and the following month it sailed for Archangel.
It served on operations in Northern Russia until June 1919 when it returned to Scotland and disbanded.

After returning from active duty in Northern Rusia with the Royal Scots Regiment he started his career as a professionsl football player in Scotland. He emigrated to Canada in May 1926 playing in Windsor Ontario. August 1926 Bob joined Philadelphia Soccer Club USA under the newly formed North American Football(Soccer) League.in the USA.
In 1929, after marrying Margaret Perry, he and his wife moved to Chiicago USA, Bob playing for clubs in Illinois, and where children Margaret and Robert were born. In 1931 They moved to St. Louis, Missouri, Bob playing soccer there until 1935.

Robert met Margaret Perry in Windsoe, Ontario, Canada, and married there in 1929 - they lived and worked there, and then moved to Chicago USA, where their first two children, Margaret & Robert were born. They then returned to Scotland C.1935 and later to Suffolk England. They lived and worked on an agricultural smallholding at Newborn - where in 1940 son Archibald was born. During World War II they moved to Ipswich where they remained for the rest of their lives. Alexander was born in Sunderland County Durham in 1944. Margaret his mother had temporarily travelled there for the birth from Ipswich.

Emigrated to Canada in July 1925 following her older sisters Marion and Charlotte. Married Robert Paton Gregg whom she met through her brother Archie also living in Canada at that time. Robert and Archie were professional football soccer players. Margaret and Robert returned to England in mid 1934-5. Margaret lived at Ipswich Suffolk from 1941 to 1995. She died aged 89 and is our the second longest surviving family member[2011] within these records
