AUGUST 2000

Bojangle1 August 2000 : We found no trace of Big Bertha after her escapade up in the Lilliput Mountains, but the three other men were taken away to the local police station. They will be charged with possessing dangerous weapons, kidnapping the Lilliputz, and hopefully jailed. All the Miniaturez have settled back happily in the LPRL compound. Seems the only one to avoid the kidnapping was Bojangle our resident cat, and it was good to see him still at LPRL H.Q.

August 2000 : Not very many little catz have been rescued so far for this consignment. I think they are avoiding the town area for some reason. A report was received that lots of them had been seen down at the coast. I might take a look see for myself tomorrow. All seems normal back at the Lilliputz Website, and seems the 'Terrible Twins' are still behaving themselves. I will set off very early for the coast tomorrow in an attempt to find out if it is true about lots of catz living in that area.

August 2000 :  It was a nice sunny day, and the drive to the coast was most pleasant. I passed one or two small catz who seemed to be heading the same direction as me. As I pulled up near the beach I noticed an old couple sitting on the rocks. During our conversation I mentioned about the catz, and the old gent said they had seen several catz in the sand dunes, and he had wondered just why they were there. I thanked them, and decided to investigate that area of the beach. Not wishing to frighten off the catz, I kept a low profile and watched from over the top of the sand dunes. They all looked very happy as they relaxed in the shade of the dunes. I decided to set up camp about 300 meters from them.

August 2000 : The morning greeted me with a fresh breeze blowing, and I decided to stroll down to the dunes to see what was going on. On my way I met a local fisherman, who had lots of interesting seafaring tales to tell. When I asked about the catz, he admitted he had seen many of them coming and going, but had never in his long lifetime seen anything like it before.  I asked if he would like to spend some time with me to see if we could discover what was going on, and he happily agreed. We laid in the sand at the top of the dunes, and just watched the catz for a couple of hours or so. Around midday all the catz suddenly moved towards the waters edge, and we were absolutely amazed at what happened next!

August 2000 :  What we saw yesterday was incredible. As the tide was receding, little pools were left on the beach, and swimming around in the pools were lots of small golden Lilliskate fish! The fisherman explained that this was the Lilliskates breeding season, and the fish would all return to the deep sea by September. The catz had found a fresh food store which would feed them for several weeks, and this would keep them safe from the culling order in Lilliput Town for the time being. I decided to leave the catz to their temporary little party, and return to LPRL H.Q. where I explained the strange happenings to the staff. We agreed it best they should not be disturbed for the present, and would keep an eye open for them returning to town in September.

August 2000 : A few more Miniature dogz arrived at LPRL today from members of the The Voluntary Society of Petz Lovers (VSPL), and it seems we should have just as many to bring home this time. It will be nice to get them back safely because there are so many people in the petz Community who are ready to offer them good homes. Several Petz Websites are now starting the Lilliputz Petz Shows, and the Official Lilliputz Shows are being held at UK Petz on behalf of LPRL.

August 2000 : Hey guess what! There are already enough Lilliput Miniaturez for a full consignment - I have decided to surprise everyone by returning home immediately! Alex has put a hint up on UKP updates already on the 6th August. Now it's first come - first served - GO FOR THEM GUYZ. No moans now - You know my motto : 'Not fair? Then be there!'

August 2000 : Gosh - 22 Miniaturez gone by midday yesterday (on the first day)!! Then ALL 56 were adopted by 10:00pm - so must get cracking again! Lots of updates to do. Hope I can get it done before I have to go back to Lilliput.

August 2000 : OK - Now winging my way back to Lilliputz for an urgent appointment about a new discovery in Lilliput. Should arrive there by lunch time with a bit of luck - can't wait!!

August 2000 : I was asked to visit the Office of the VSPL today to be told something very special! The head of the organisation, Mary Thatcher, said she had heard that I had been involved with the Giant Sheepiez at Lillipo Minor, and asked was I aware that further across the Lilliiput Mountain range a pack of sandy brown and grey Miniature Sheepiez was rumoured to be living. I listened keenly to what she was telling me. This was something new to me. Apparently they were distantly related to the Giantz, but over generations had evolved like the other miniaturez at Lilliput to be very small. It seems now that the Mini Sheepiez have started to head towards Lilliput town area in search of food. One or two had been seen by a member of the Voluntary Society of Petz Lovers. This I must investigate further!

August 2000 : Having acquired as much information about the little Sheepiez as possible, I decided to take Titch with me again on this mission. He did well in helping us find and communicate with the Giantz back in May. He had been living at LPRL since that time, and had been one of the Lilliputz who were stolen by Bertha's men. This would be a good trip for him too, and he could be very helpful if we find the Minni's. Jim Bean also agreed to come with us.

August 2000 : It would be a good two day journey to the far side of Lilliput Mountains, and we had to pack lots of supplies in our truck. We decided to take food for the little animals too. We set off early this morning, and stopped at the Native Village  just to say hello. The chief showed us the 4x4 vehicle we had given him as a reward for helping us rescue the Lilliputz from Big Bertha. It was quite funny because his tribe had decided to paint the vehicle. It was a bright orange colour, with trees, animals, and ancient symbols painted all over it. The chief was most excited and thought it looked wonderful ! We said our farewells and continued on our way.

August 2000 : By evening we had arrived at the mountain peak, and it will be all down hill from now on. I decided it would be best if we camped for the night and continued our journey in the morning. We were about to settle down for the night when Titch started to yap, and kept tugging at me. He could either smell or hear something outside our tent. Then we heard a whimpering noise and went to investigate. A solitary little figure stood near our tent, and Titch ran over to comfort him. It was our first glance of a Mini Lilliputz Sheepie. We decided to name him Bengun

August 2000 : The little Sheepie was obviously on his way to town in the search of food. We gave him drink and food and thought perhaps he would be on his way when he was satisfied, but the little fellow just stayed and followed Titch everywhere. OK if he wants to stay with us then that will be great. Matter of fact, he may be able to guide us to the rest of his relatives and friends. Soon after we awoke we headed off down the mountain to where we thought they might be. After travelling about an hour we noticed plumes of black smoke in the distance. It was coming from the direction in which the Miniaturez were supposed to be living!

August 2000 : The smoke we had seen yesterday turned out to be a lumber company clearing the forest and burning the wood. Vast areas of trees and shrubs had been cleared, and as we approached the area our little Sheepie friend became a bit agitated. I asked a lumberjack if he had seen any Miniature Dogz around the area, and he just grunted, and then said, 'Yeah, there used to be hundreds of the little pests living in this forest!, but most of them have left since we started the clearing!' Obviously HE was not sympathetic to the Miniature Sheepiez. I decided to ask risk one more question, and asked if there were any still living in the area. 'Some', he told me, 'but most have gone from the area now... well I have to get on with the clearance'.

August 2000 : We spent the good part of a day searching for the Sheepiez with the two little dogz sniffing for clues. Having found none, we camped away from the burnt area of the forest and started our search again at first light. The dogz did a wonderful job and before long picked up trail. Eventually, we spotted what we were looking for. We found about 30 little Miniature Sheepiez on the edge of the forest, and they all looked a bit sad for themselves. They were being driven from their home land, trying to find a new place to live. They all started to run off as we approached them and I thought we would never be able to catch up with them.

August 2000 : Fortunately, the Sheepie pack leader noticed Titch and his new found friend Bengun, and they all decided to stop running from us. Straight away we offered them food and fresh drink, and gradually more of them came to us for help. When we thought all the stray Miniature Sheepiez were accounted for we gently guided them all into out truck, and slowly headed away on our long journey back over the mountain to Lilliput Town. As yet I have not made a decision what to do with them all, but we could possibly find a home for them on Lillipo Minor with Rebecca and the Giant Sheepiez.

August 2000 : For the time being, we have decided to keep the Miniature Sheepiez in a separate compound at LPRL. At least they will be kept healthy and fed here. Maybe one or two of them might want to come back to the UK with us, and hopefully Bengun!
