Hello. Firstly, I'd like to say how impressed I am with your Gregg Website.
I am a descendant of Alexander Galbraith bn 1743 Dalmellington and Mary Cool bn ?. Their children were:
Barbara Galbraith bn 1794 Dalmellington m Ivie Gregg bn 1795,
James Galbraith bn 1797 Dalmellngton m Janet Campbell Jamieson (My Gt x 2 Grandparents)
Three other sibblings died either in infancy or early adulthood.
The Galbraith's lived at a farm in Pennyvenie, Dalmellington, in which Barbara Galbraith inherited from her father.

The parents of Alexander (bn1743) were John Galbraith bn ? and Margaret Gregg bn 1724 Ayr, Ayrshire (Margaret's parents were James Greg(g) and Jane Guthrie.

I am interested in researching the Gregg/Galbraith family connection, as there are at least two family connections that I can see so far.

I was wondering if you can suggest any websites or other material that would be of interest. Recently, I was lucky enough to find a photo of my Gt x 2 Grandfather James Galbraith bn 1797 (Brother of Barbara Gregg nee Galbraith bn 1794)

Kind regards, Lyn Fannin

Info July 2008: Dear Alec,
Thank you for replying to my email.
I have attached a photo of a portrait of my Gt Gt Grandfather James William Galbraith 1798-1839. He was the brother of Barbara Galbraith.
This photo was from an old photo album that belongs to a distant cousin. I was very happy to receive a copy of this photo. It would be lovely to locate mores photos just like this.
Thank you for updating your website with the details that I sent you. The research that you have done must have taken years. I have only been researching the family for 4 years. I find that it can be a slow process, but it's always great when you find a breakthrough!
Kind regards, Lyn.
