I received notification from one Mark Pettigrew(CEng.Mech) b.1967 - via e-mail - for the descendants of John Pettigrew.(see P466 William). It is thought that John died in 1844 . There was an interrment at Tarbolton in that year for a John Petticrew. Also John did not appear on the 1851 or 1861 census having appeared on the 1841 census[ADG Jan 2002]

I have checked the OPR regarding John Petticrue's demise of 1844. The time and place of the event is good to fit in with other criteria, but looking closer at the OPR it read John Petticrew WELCH. John's brother in law, who was married to his wife's sister (Namely Agnes Greg) was Robert WELSH, and so, was there an administrative name error on the OPR or was John Petticrue Welch perhaps John Petticrue's nephew (an as yet to be found son to Agnes Gregg and Robert Welsh), or indeed someone else?

John b. EST 1790 was possibly born in New Monkland(Airdrie) as yet to be confirmed. It is thought that John died in 1844 - i.e an interrment at Tarbolton in that year for a John Petticrew. Also John did not appear on the 1851 census having appeared on the 1841 census.

My grandmother's brother John David Curle Petticrew (Mum's Uncle Dave) was a great fiddle player, completely self taught, so perhaps he inherited the talent!
