Ive been doing my family tree and my husbands for some time now but its my husbands yours is connected too in some way. He is decendant from THOMAS Greig and MARION CALDWELL from Barr, They are his grt,grt grandparents through their daughter SARAH GGREIG b. 1850 who was MARRIED to THOMASROSS at Glasgow on 13 july 1873.
Thomas was also born in Barr he was son of James Ross and Sarah McGarva.

Sarah Greig and Thomas,s daughter Barbara Jane Ross married Daniel Rankin in Glasgow and their daughter Mary Ann Rankin was my husbands grandmother .It seems you possibly may have a connection to my husband Angus. ..

Daniel Rankins parents were Donald Rankin and Mary Ann Gregorson(mcgregor) from oban, argyll. Mary ann was the granddaughter of John Gregorson of ardnitornish(He is direct decendant from rob roy mcgregors family) and also Murdoch Maclaine and Jane Campbell of
mull(decend from scottish royalty and robert the bruce,

)We were surprised too find out who we were connected too as my mother in law only knew her grandparents names and had no idea she was decendent from gentry. Mary Ann Gregorson left mull at a young age married Daniel had 2 children and also died very young aged 24 in govan!.

I noticed you were also researching Burns .I am also researching my grand father Robert Burns from Ayrshire he was born 1865, His father was James Burns who was from ayr born around 1830 and who im still trying to find who his parents are (I cant find his death record in glasgow). Maybe a long shot I could be decendant from Rabbie Burns who knows !!
