Jane GUTHRIE

Alias Jane GREG (EST 1722)

In all parish records James Greg's trade is spelled 'taylor' for present day tailor.

James estimated age 27 married Elizabeth Kirkwood in 1707, aged 42 married Jane Guthrie in 1722, and finally aged 53 marrying Elizabeth Rogerson in 1733.

James Gregg
Birth: 1682 - Ayr Ayrshire, Scotland
Death: 1737 - Ayr Ayrshire
Father: James Gregg
Wife: Jane Gregg (born Guthrie)
Wife: Elizabeth Gregg (born Rodgerson)
Wife: Elizabeth Gregg (born Kirkwood)
Children: Mary Meikle (born Gregg), James Gregg, David Gregg, William Gregg, Janet Gregg, James Gregg, Jane Gregg, Margaret Galbraith (born Gregg), Elizabeth Gregg, Isobel Gregg, Alexander Gregg, James Gregg, Anna Gregg

James died before 1740 (See Probate 29 Jul 1737) when Elizabeth Rogerson married John Meikle[IGI]. Her step-daughter Mary Greg previously married John Meikle in 1731.(did he, perhaps as a widower to Mary Greg, also marry his widowed mother-in-law??)

Note: The name MEIKLE appears again in 1730 as James Meikle(also' late deacon to the taylors'), being witness to the baptism of Anna Greg(daughter to James Greg and Jane Guthrie).1 boy
James produced 4 boys and 2 girls in his marriage with Elizabeth Kirkwood, and 5 girls and 1 boy in his marriage to Jane Guthrie. He would have been 51 by the time he married Elizabeth Rogerson and assuming his date of birth to be correct died probably aged 53.(Unless there were earlier marriages and the estimated d.o.b is incorrect.
