Ipswich in Prayer was born
in the late
summer of 2000, and is one of an ever-growing number of prayer networks now
covering much of the Uk.
The key verse upon which Ipswich in Prayer - and indeed many other prayer
networks - is founded is 2 Chronicles 7:14.
'If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray and seek
my face and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven and will
forgive their sin and will heal their land.
We believe God is doing a new thing in these days, and the church is being
called into a new commitment to prayer, and a deeper level of holiness and
intimacy.
The Ipswich in Prayer initiative aims:
1. To raise the profile of and commitment to prayer
2. To unite the churches in and around Ipswich in prayer
3. To see God transform our town, region and nation through prayer

Using this booklet
This booklet has been produced to give guidelines to help churches and
individual Christians in praying for the town. Where Ipswich is mentioned,
please include in your prayers the outlying villages, many of whom are committed
to Ipswich in Prayer.
The booklet is designed for use at any time, so the prayer points have been left
fairly general, names having been omitted.
"Then will I purify the lips of the peoples, that all of them may call on
the name of the Lord and serve him shoulder to shoulder" Zephaniah 3:9
All bible Quotations are from the New International Version (NIV).
Format of the 40 days
Each of the 40 days in this booklet is divided into three sections
1. A verse for personal meditation taken from the gospel of Matthew; words
spoken by Jesus himself.
2. The Church: a verse of scripture and/or prayer points to help focus on some
aspect of our lives together as the church in Ipswich.
3. The Town: here again a different aspect or area of town life is suggested
each day with brief guidelines for prayer. Where possible please include in your
prayers those you know who have personal involvement in any of the areas
covered.
"Seek the peace and prosperity of the city into which I have carried you.
Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper"
Jeremiah 29:7
Please tell others about this booklet, and encourage them to pray. Details of
where to obtain further copies are available on the Ipswich in Prayer web site.

Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her (Eph 5:25)
The Lord knows those who are his (2 Tim 2:19)
Give thanks that, in love, Christ gave himself up for the Church in Ipswich
Pray for the church in Ipswich as a community of believers
Give thanks for those who have gone before, and for those who will come after us
The Town
Those in Authority
I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone - for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and
holiness. 1 Tim 2: 1 - 2
